ESG Report 2024: full steam ahead with sustainability

Achmea Real Estate last year made 900 homes more sustainable on behalf of its institutional clients. In addition, 5,000 solar panels were installed, mainly on homes. CO2 emissions in the residential portfolio fell further and are now 64 per cent lower than in 1990. This is according to the ESG Report 2024, released today.
In a time of growing strain on the housing market, we want to create a positive impact through investments that deliver social and financial value’’, said board members Boris van der Gijp, Toon Sweens and Astrid Langeveld-Vos in the foreword.
Of the newly acquired homes in 2024, 47% were designed as lifetime homes and 60% were in the affordable rent category. This is slightly lower than Achmea Real Estate's targets of 50% and 75% respectively. Of all buildings in the portfolio, 83% now holds an energy label A or higher; that is 2 percentage points higher than in 2023.
